During the month of February, the Provincial Archives will recognize Black History Month by featuring stories and images from Daughters of Charity ministries which have served African Americans. We begin with St. John’s Mission in Charleston, MS. In Charleston, the Sisters served in a variety of social work and parish ministries, including home visits to families and the elderly, and working with elderly persons unable to read or write, helping them to obtain pension and health care benefits to which they were entitled.
