On Friday afternoon the movers left the Emmitsburg campus after having delivered the collection from Evansville, the last of the four provincial collections to move in. Now Emmitsburg, St. Louis, Albany and Evansville are all safely stored in our new repository, making the Archives of the Province of St. Louise a reality! We continue to be grateful to our maintenance and housekeeping staffs, the contractors, and movers — everyone who has eased us through this last month with able hands, kind words and much-needed prayers. Next week, we put the finishing touches on the first-floor exhibit halls. And by the end of the week, the very first tours will begin!
Now that the Province of St. Louise Archives is established, we look ahead to the blessing of the Emmitsburg Campus on December 14 and our opening to the public in January. Please see the “About” page on this site for our paper mail and email addresses. Right now, email and paper mail are the best ways to contact us, as we will be busy over the coming days readying spaces and collections for our public opening. In January we will be able to accept phone inquiries.
In addition please watch our website for information on access and reading room policies, and information for visitors making a research trip to Emmitsburg. That information will be posted soon. Thank you for your patience with us while we were closed over the summer and fall. We look forward to serving researchers in our new space!
